Face recognition – danger to privacy?

Protecting privacy is important to us. That includes both maintaining our own privacy and respecting the privacy of others. Therefore, this site does not use cookies nor it surreptitiously collects any private information. Be aware, however, that WordPress plugins, social media, and analytics also may set cookies.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When visitors leave comments on the site we may collect the data shown in the comments form. We also may collect the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. The location data extracted from images by other visitors can potentially compromise your privacy.
